What’s The Difference?

Mitigation is the act of minimizing the severity of a situation. The primary purpose of mitigation is to ensure the disaster does not lead to further issues. Mitigation efforts will always come before restoration needs (if any).

Restoration is the act of returning something to its former condition. If after mitigating there is still damage to the property- that is when restoration begins. Restoration focuses on repairing and restoring any damage that may have been caused to the property. Restoration is significantly less expensive than replacement, which is why it is the preferred method by the majority of insurance companies
